I was wondering if anyone has been in touch with Mark Walters in the last couple of years. If you know how to get in touch with him, please return my email. I would appreciate it. Thank you.
Christy Burgess, Sherwood, AR
Hey Richard! Just got your note. I'd like to thank YOU and YOUR GUYS for the fabulous job you did for the annual mental health institute! We start our planning meetings for next year in a couple of weeks. You'll be hearing more from me about the date -- and about our theme (Hawaiian) for next August's conference! I have a brainstorm of getting a promo photo from you of the Groan-Ups wearing those Hawaiian shirts to use in the promotional materials and posters to even better publicize your presence at the event. We have almost a year to work on this -- but perhaps we can get together one of these days and pose your guys with lei's around their necks and looking tropical for a photo shoot! I'm even more excited about next year's event than this past! I really appreciate your group's contribution and feel the committee will most definitely want you guys back. Thanks again!
Teresa Minner
Well, me and Maude -- that's the Mrs. - was down to the town of Maumelle to catch them pretty fireworks on July 4, which, as you know, is our great nation's birthday. Well, we was sure some kinda surprised when who was there a playin' that get your old self down music but them Growedups. You boys sure do know how to pitch a party and that's the God's truth. We is still hopin' that you boys will grace our fair city of Vilonia with a moonlight concert one of these here nights. The boys over to the VFW hall has taken up a collection, and we is ready to negotiate on a fair and square price. I'm a bit of a promoter her in these parts, so don't you go pullin' one of them fast ones on me, now. Ha Ha. Well, all right!
Elwood P. Suggins, Vilonia, AR
"If music be the food of love; play on." William Shakespeare. You have a new, and quite hungry fan in Fayetteville, Arkansas. You have a very impressive rock hard beat, some rather wonderful pulsing rhythms, and gutsy deep throbbing vocals. Rock on gentlemen... DO ROCK ON! With many thanks,
Lori West, Class of '1973', Fayetteville, AR
Hi Richard, It was great seeing you guys tonight. A wonderful reminder of younger years! The GroanUPs are still my favorite band!
Francine Barton, Little Rock, AR
Just read your article in today's paper. I will have to come listen to your group as soon as I can. Just wanted to let Matt Dickson know that I too had the pleasure of meeting Lee Greewood when I was stationed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas NV. We (USAF THuderbirds) had made him an Honorary Thunderbird at that time when he visited our squadron. That was a treasured moment for me. Good Luck on your performance this Friday!
Ms. Hortencia E. Walters, Beebe, AR
When your bass players retires...or moves ...or wants to be nice and give me a turn, let me know. I'd love to play with you guys!
Dane Clement, Little Rock, AR
Hey Jai! Just for grins, I did a google search on Jim & found this lovely site. What a hoot to get back in touch...Ryan is 18(!), 6'1", and a senior in H.S here in Irving . Ry has been playing bass guitar for 3 or 4 years now. He is an amazing bassist...Claypool is one of his heros. He is THE sound engineer/theatre tech. at school, drum tech./roadie for a great local Dallas band, "Hollow" & of course the leader of his own rock band, "Uncle Amy",(aka: always lookin' for a drummer...). Jim is on tour as system engineer with Showco, (call for tour details). I was recently layed-off after 4 years in the sign/graphics biz, but am having a great time pruning rose bushes, & learning how to work a weed-eater here at the house...(we're finally home-owners!) I just returned home a couple of hours ago, after hanging with Jim in Phoenix. I can tell you anything you want to know about Phoenix, as long as it concerns the Ritz Carlton, Mortons Steakhouse or America West Arena...Well, to make a long st...

I wanted to thank all the guys for playing the x-mas benefit in lr..You sounded great and help make the evening a wonderful time. My special thanks to Frank and Jai for helping me when I broke that string.I couldn't have done the change that fast without your help. That was a very nice thing to do for a guitar player in trouble. Also thanks Matt for sitting in with the Allstars we needed all the help we could get.I hope that the band will do the benefit next year.Everyone that did the gig this year are signed for the 03 x-mas benefit and more want to play it. Doing something to help someone at x-mas is what it is all about. Keep playing that Rock and Roll, Thumper

Great website and great performance at the recent Heart Gala in Texarkana. Keep jammin and we'll keep dancing. Thanks.
Trish Russell, Texarkana, TX
A virtual bouillabaisse of sounds for the ears!, melodic harmonies reminiscent of Jan & Dean, yet, with the raw unbridled power of a Bette Midler solo. Richard Wise reigns supreme, working those strings with the precision of a SCUD missle, and the driving passion of a cab driver!, unforgettable!
Andrew Friedrich, Chicago, IL
The Groanups ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brandi
ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO ANDY
Robert deBin, Little Rock, AR
The Groanups have been around for about 18 years I've been hearing them for about 10 that I can remember and they're the best band in Arkansas! People love 'em. Great musicians and great music. Great web page too. Good job Jai. The best part of The GroanUps is that they always have to be told to turn the music down.
Will Nicholson, Prairie Grove, AR
It's been ten and a half years since you played at our wedding, and people STILL talk about it. What a night! Fab website, guys.
Karen Aufdenberg Reynolds, Glen Ellyn, IL
Hey, Beans & Frank rock!!!!

You guys are the smart ones. Wish I'd stayed with the music avocation. It's great to see you doing so well. Keep the faith!!!
Dennis Devine, Heber Springs, AR
Being the Music Director and Music Arranger for production shows on the world's largest stage at the Reno Hilton Hotel Casino and Harvey's Hotel Casino @ Lake Tahoe, I would like to say that in my career, I have seen and heard many bands, and without a question of doubt I am proud to say, without hesitation or reservations, that The Groan-Ups are definitely and positively one of them. Remmel Wilson @ LAKE TAHOE ENTERTAINMENT, Musical Director / Performing Artist (saxophone), LRA Hall High School 1971.
P.S. I vaguely remember being a band member in this musical gang of thugs back in the late 60's and early 70's under the names of Demian, All You Can Eat, and others that demand forgetting. If my memory serves me correctly, some member names were Tim Blunk, Gio Bruno, Jay Bruno, Roger Reynolds, Lewis Teague, Wes Hall, John Koon, myself, Byron somebody, Frank Cox, and others that escape me also contributed to the life of musical hoodlums that we led. Wasn't Frank Cox the first musician to perform Stairway to Heaven on a college campus at Conway? Mirror shades, E. Bartlett Band, high school dances in LR, NLR, and in particular-St. Mary's, and other memories are creeping back to me now, so I must get back to my bottle of scotch to try and drown them back out! Best of Luck, Nice to see that you guys are still strummin, bangin, pluckin and blowin.
Remmel Wilson, Tahoe City, CA
Great website GroanUps! It has been too long since I have heard you to comment on your music so I will pick on Richard instead...still using that I've got a sinus headache excuse???

Me and the Mrs. was down at your capital city buyin' some last minute stockin' stuffers for the grand kids and noticed you boys was playin' at the Cajun place in that old warehouse down by that river that runs through town. So we stopped and after eatin' one of them big ole fried plates of theirs we visited the libation room and took in your show. Boy, howdy! You can sure play that music, that's the God's truth. Me and Maude, that's the Mrs., liked to dance til our boots plum falled off. Did any of you by chance find Maude's left boot?. It's one of them Wolverine steel toed jobs, size 14 I think -- yeah ole Maude might have big feet, but she sure can cook. Specially them collard greens, which as I always say, have made me the man I is today. Well you boys keep a playin' that pretty music and come on up to Vilonia and play at our church sometime. We just love to sing.
Elwood P. Suggins, Vilonia, AR
You guys like to ski don't you?? Bring your families and COME SEE ME!! Love and miss you big and muchly.

I feel so privilaged to have known you all for so long, and grow up to the music that still means so much to me. It has been too long since I last saw you play, and I look forward to getting the oppurtunity to do so very soon. Well done.
Marti Nicholson, Fayetteville, AR

Norman Judd, Russellville, AR
Great web site! I was glad to stumble upon your website. I can check to see where you will be performing. I don't think I told you that you did a great job at my wedding and everyone LOVED your music. It was a great party! Tell Frank hi from his former Sunday School pupil. YIKES!

Looking forward to you playing in southern California!!!! Nice website! It was great to see you Rick and thanks for taking the time to show the all of us your collection.
Debora Sigler, Hemet, CA
Beg to differ w/ Jai's bio, and as his "Mommo" I should know! Jai first "picked up" a guitar in 1962 at just shy of 2 years of age! Actually, it was a plastic, TV PAL baritone ukulele and he would NOT be separated from it (see pix on his website). He called it MY (his) cut'ar". He tortured that cut'ar" (and his family) with many. . .many. . (sigh). . .MANY a baby ballad. Now if we are talking about when he was actually able to make intelligible noises with a guitar, it probaly WAS about '73. He had also learned to pronounce it by then. Love ya 'bird! Mom.
Weezie Carter Lukas, Little Rock, AR
I've seen you guys a few times, and I love how you are on stage! You are so "in tune" with each other and gets the crowd into the mood to dance and have a good time no matter age, race or religion :). Really. I think you guys are great! Keep up the good work and remember its FUN.
Stephanie Krauser, Little Rock, AR
Nice page guys! I stopped in to look around after talking with Gio last nite... I was disappointed that Frank left out of his bio a reference to one of Little Rock's more notable musical gateways..."LR JR Cotillion".! Thats ok Frank, I'd probably have to exclude that one myself! ;) p.s. If you're out and about and hear a loud thunderous roar...it's probably the reconstructed "Bhangerz", though the name will likely change. We hope to be "getting out" early summer. Stay tuned.... Best of luck and hope to see you guys soon!
Mark Farmer, Maumelle, AR
Keep on rocking , and I love the group!!! Say hello to the president for me!! Moogy
Moogy Klingman
Great site! Can't wait to hear you guys Saturday!
Tammy Harris, Benton, AR
Richard, I'm impressed!

OK, you guys are scarin' me now. Shorty Shea lost his head over a band that just wouldn't leave. I don't know what to do. Please don't send me a bullet. Must close before all the glue dries. Much love, drpete.
Pete Harris, Damascus, AR
Thanks, Richard for letting me know about y'all's site. I guess I browsed about an hour and read and pondered over it all. I think it's great. I loved how Gio was inventive enough to place pictures of everyone's head on those shrimp! Honestly, this site is very enjoyable. I actually laughed out loud several times! Thanks!!!
Jamie D. Hazlewood, Little Rock, AR
I'm suing! How dare you flaunt my beauties on your raunchy web site! Where did you get this photo? Richard! You better not send the other one I gave you! Love the site, guys...ya'll are sooooooo groovy!

GREAT SITE!!! GREAT BAND!!! Having recently relocated from the heart of Arkansas (Conway) to the anal sphincter (El Dorado), I hope you will venture to L.A. (lower Arkansas)
occasionally. Even the Deliverance-types appreciate great music!
Beth Cameron Weldon, El Dorado, AR
Great Homepage! It was fun to take a trip down memory lane via the Groanups History! Wish y'all could do a show at Riverfront Park---other than Riverfest! What can we do as fans to
make that happen???
Cathy Cameron Finch
When I click on an images link, I expect at least six scantily clad women! What's the matter with
you boys - you should know your fan base. Nearly nude women changed
out often will get you more hits.
Big Dave, Little Rock, AR
The best band in the tri-state area!!!
Kristen McCready, Little Rock, AR
Finally, a site for groanups. Keep up the good work Jai.
Jay (the proper spelling) Bruno, Little Rock, AR

Lisa Morgan, Fayetteville, AR
The GroanUps are an incredible party/dance band.
With their music as the main event for several fundraising events in our area, the attendance and profit was phenomenal. They had the crowd
dancing, laughing, and wanting more!! Not only is their talent excellent, but, the members of the band are such gentlemen. We plan to have them back again soon!!
Jackie Williams, Sikeston, MO
It's good to see the Groanups are still going strong. What a great page!
Michelle Ketzscher, N. Little Rock, AR

Loraine Cline, Little Rock, AR
I have never heard you play, but I have heard an awful lot about you through Philly. I have seen a lot of pictures of you too.
Beth Herlein (Philly's momma), Harrison, AR
Neat site. I'll probably never hear you guys play but I have fond memories of Richard from a seminar we attended in Little Rock several years ago. You sound like fun, even if the music wouldn't mean a thing to me (serious old fart).
Cubby Marcus, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
I was looking for a "Sex with Animal Friends" site, and stumbled onto this piece of Internet trash!! Boys, you look like you are still in rare form. Thanks for mentioning some of us old pioneers in the history section. Hope you are all well, maintaining your weight and get to have sex with someone other than yourselves once in a while. Let me hear from you!!

Al Owens
HI! I've never heard you guys play, but Mark Walters is my band teacher in Durango, Colorado, and told us about the GroanUps. Sounds like an awesome outfit, there.
Sarah, Durango, CO
Hey you guys, I know there is a generation gap between us, and a lot of music my father likes does not even begin to appeal to me. But I just wanted you guys to know that this kind of music I can relate to and hope that one day I will be able to stand on stage with a band with as good a core as you and able to make people "feel" the music like you. So, I will definitely catch a concert when I get back in July, and I might just bring some people along with me. Keep On Rockin In The Free World.
Andrew Herden, Bischofswiesen, Germany
Great site... WTG Jai!... will be getting some of the Java applets from spigots.com too... As of now, will be in LR for a couple of gigs at the end of March... will check your site to see if you're playing in town. Later guys.
Buck McArthur, Austin, TX
Thanks for the mention as one of the guest performers. Terrific website!! No doubt your band will continue to be tops in this region until wheelchairs aren't considered cool on stage. Keep it up!

Barbara Raney, N. Little Rock, AR
Great looking website, guys! Look forward to seeing you again...
Tommy Walker, Maumelle, AR
Hello from the former guitar player for JUNCTION,
that famous pre Groan-Ups band you never heard of.
Andy Buschmann, Batesville, AR
Me and the Mrs. was down at our capital city a year or two ago and saw you boys a playin' down there at that farmers market place. Shoot, you boys don't play like any farmers I ever knowed, and that's the God's truth. Anyhow, me and Maude -- that's the Mrs. -- enjoyed cuttin' a wide rug down there in the parkin' lot. And you know what? Old Maude got so worked up I thought she was gonna shuck her bloomers right in front of that "Gee-Yow" boy who sings so pretty.
Well, I best be closing for now, boys. You all love one another, and don't forget to eat lots of collard greens. Thems the food what made me what I is today.
Elwood P. Suggins, Vilonia, AR
Cool web site!! Awesome pictures on the home page.
Danielle Strawn, Little Rock, AR
Richard, I went to the website last night and it looks great. I love the music clips. I am working on a website for myself (to share with my family) and I don't know how to load music. Did you hire someone to create the website or did you design it yourself???? It looks great.
Hazel L. Thomas, Conway, AR
Good for you! It's high time you guys had your own homepage and domain. Sending you lots of love and support from the Ozarks. And three cheers for this new web site. It's wonderful. Nice work, kids.
